The Country Farm and Home Container Garden Makeover

Country Farm and Home of Mifflinburg Color Your World Container Garden Makeover Winner

Tanna Stenger was the 2010 winner of the Country Farm & Home Color Your World Container Garden Home Makeover. This contest was open to anyone who wanted to enter and we had a lot of GREAT entries. What won the judges' hearts was Tanna’s story…

I am a gardener and I plant seeds. Not the kind you’re thinking of, but seeds of knowledge. I am a teacher. I grow responsible learners. Each fall I cultivate a new crop. I tend them carefully; feed them daily and deal with the weeds as they appear. My seeds are planted in late August and sprout in early fall. All winter I care for them, feed them and watch them grow. In the spring they bloom with the dogwoods. Sometimes there are late bloomers, but I keep showering them with encouragement until they are ready to blossom. My garden requires time, patience and effort. Each flower is unique with different needs. I think I deserve this container garden makeover because I am a gardener and I grow things. I will give the flowers in my containers the same love and attention as I do my kids. I will pull the weeks and water daily. I want my house to be as beautiful as the garden I grow at school. And fortunately for me I have all summer to care for them!

The rest of the story is told in the following before and after photos. Keith Phelps and the staff at Country Farm & Home created an atmosphere at the Stenger residence that they enjoy every day. Tanna says that she and her husband sit out in the garden, something they rarely did before, almost every day. They are truly enjoying the makeover!
